Longview has a wealth of opportunities for life-long learners whether it is taking a
short class in dancing, attending a professional level theatre production, or obtaining
a master’s level degree.
 
Longview has one community college (Kilgore College) and two universities (University of Texas at Tyler - Longview and LeTourneau University). Each of these institutions offers continuing education classes with no entrance requirements as well as academic courses that lead to a degree. The Longview Public Library is open sixty hours per week and includes more than 100,000 volumes. Among the area's many cultural landmarks are the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, the Gregg County Historical Museum, and the R.G. LeTourneau Museum.

Kilgore College Campus Locations
Main Campus, 1100 Broadway, Kilgore, TX, is located 15 minutes from Longview and offers a large variety of courses day and night. The KC-Longview Campus, 300 S. High St., Longview, TX, offers day and evening courses for college transfer, occupational education courses, and adult and continuing education courses.
 
 
Kilgore College Continuing Education and Workforce Development
33% of KC’s continuing education students are over the age of 50, with the oldest student to date at the age of 93. One of the primary missions of KC’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development is to provide opportunities for the life-long learning for adults in the community. Non-credit courses are designed with many different goals in mind, such as pursuing or resuming intellectual interests, learning a particular skill, increasing job efficiency, retraining for a new career, developing worthwhile hobbies, improving self-image, and enriching leisure activities. Kilgore College "Senior College"
At both the Kilgore and Longview campuses, Kilgore College offers courses by popular demand that have been tailored to accommodate the lifestyle of an aging student base. Examples of classes include: Computer Basics, Email and Instant Messaging, So You Have Decided to Use a Computer?, The Internet is My Friend!, Wow, I Can Type!, Drawing, Oil Painting, Watercolor, Creative Writing, Flower Arranging, and Water Aerobics for Women.

LeTourneau University (LETU) was founded in 1946 to train GI’s returning from World War II. The university’s rich Christian heritage is evident in everything that they do. Today, LeTourneau University offers over 60 degree programs to traditional and non-traditional students. In addition to undergraduate and master’s level graduate programs, the university provides many offerings via the continuing studies program. A sample of the continuing study classes offered can be seen below: Drama as a Christian Ministry, Piano by Ear, Beginning Guitar, Mosaics, Old Testament Survey, American Sign Language, Computer Classes, Beginning Fly Fishing, Beginning Digital Photography, Writing Your Life’s Story,  American Management Association Classes, Workplace Spanish Classes, Fitness and Aquatics Classes.  The university accepts feedback from the community in an attempt to offer new courses that fill a void among constituents. The university is constantly looking for ways to serve the senior community with new course offerings.
 
 
LETU Traditional Programs
Traditional undergraduate classes provided on campus are available to be audited at a very reasonable cost, which makes almost the full realm of the LeTourneau classroom experience available to the community. LeTourneau’s major areas of study include engineering, aeronautics, arts, sciences, business, and education.
