The Mission of the Longview Public Library is to improve the quality of life for the client and the
community by demonstrating professional leadership in designing, developing, and managing library collections, systems, and services; by bringing people and resource together, closing the gap between the individual and the record of knowledge and culture; by providing current information; by cooperating with other libraries, institutions, and agencies to provide resources otherwise unavailable; and by offering a broad and diverse range of resources to entertain and enlighten.
Located at 222 W. Cotton St., the Library serves the residents of Longview and Gregg County and is located in a spacious 35,000 square foot facility built in 1987. The Library provides reference books, local history, government documents, maps, microforms, magazines, newspapers, and programs. In addition, books, large-print books, books-on-tape, VHS and DVD are available to borrow. A branch library is located within the Broughton Recreation Center.
The Longview Public Library is affiliated with the North East Texas Library System, the Texas Library Association, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, the Public Library Association, and the American Library Association. The “Friends of the Library” is a support organization that provides additional funding and services for the Library. The Library is supported by the Longview Public Library Foundation, the City of Longview, and Gregg County.

LeTourneau University Margaret Estes Library www.letu.edu
Located on the campus of LeTourneau University in Longview, the Margaret Estes Library exists to provide access to appropriate and well-organized reference and research materials and services in support of the institution's academic programs, both traditional and non-traditional. In so doing, the Library seeks to provide all students, faculty, and staff of LeTourneau University, citizens of Longview, and TexShare members equal access to materials and services.
The Library has a Teacher Education Resource and Curriculum Center, provides material through an Engineering Resource Center, and serves as a Selective Housing Federal Document Depository. The Library also houses certain original documents pertaining to the history of LeTourneau University and the archives of R. G. LeTourneau, founder of the University, noted inventor, and internationally recognized Christian businessman.
The Library exists primarily to serve the University's students, faculty, and staff and their academic needs relative to the curriculum and to the University's operation. However, the Library also offers services to the following groups of people: TexShare Card holders (Texas public library members & other Texas college and university students), home schooled & high school students.
AFFILIATIONS
The Library is a member of TexShare , a state-wide resource sharing consortium of public and private universities and community colleges and public libraries mandated and funded by the Texas State Legislature since the 74th Legislative Session (1993). As a full member of the OCLC system, the Library participates in both lending and borrowing through the worldwide interlibrary loan system as well as joining 80 percent of the world's libraries in cataloguing the Library's
collection through OCLC. Our OCLC symbol is TLT . The Library is a member of the Libraries Very Interested in Sharing [ LVIS] network within OCLC. As a member of the OCLC regional consortium, Amigos , the Library also enjoys the benefits of consortium-priced electronic databases, training, and other services. The Margaret Estes Library is also a member in the Forest Trail Library Consortium [FTLC], an organization of over 30 academic, public, and school libraries in the East Texas area.
